Have you picked out a major yet?
Yes, history and possibly theatre…with maybe a minor in either theatre or Civil War Era Studies. I haven’t quite decided yet, it changes week to week.
What do you plan to do after college?
There’s the million dollar question…either, if I go the history route, working at the Smithsonian or something like that ideally, or if I go the theatre route, hopefully Broadway.
What activities are you involved in this semester?
I’m in College Choir, Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble, SMuT, and hopefully the musical Company…and possibly more theater in the spring.
Which one do you enjoy the most and why?
Probably College Choir because I love singing and the people are really cool…GCC rocks, basically.
Do you have a Hollywood crush?
Yes I do – sexy Scotsman Gerard Butler. He’s a great actor, he can sing, and he’s pretty good looking…and he has a nice accent, girls love the accents.
Besides the sexy Scotsman, do you have a favorite music artist?
I primarily listen to Broadway, so I love Idina Menzel, Kirsten Chenowith and Norbert Lee Buntz, basically the cast of Wicked. I just love their voices.
What’s your favorite musical and have you seen it performed?
I hate that question because there are so many musicals. My all time favorite is probably still Phantom of the Opera because I grew up with it. I’ve seen it performed four times, but recently, I’m getting into Jason Robert Brown (Songs for a New World) because I really like the contemporary feel.
What is your dream role?
I guess I always wanted to be Eponine from Les Miserables, because I identify with her a lot. Well, basically, I’d be happy to be something on Broadway. But Eponine is an alto and that’s pretty cool. I guess Elphaba too, because that’s another cool alto role.
What’s your favorite quote, why, and where did you hear it?
“Some achieve great success is proof that all others can achieve it as well.” And that’s actually by Abraham Lincoln, and I think I read it in one of my many historical books that I read… I couldn’t peg the book for you.
What’s your favorite snack?
Rice Cakes because they’re tasty and low fat! I think because it gives you that satisfying crunch, like you’re eating something bad for you, like potato chips have that crunch, but Rice Cakes are good for you!
What did you tell yourself at the beginning of the year to make it through the semester?
I wrote it on my To Do List on the refrigerator… Enjoy College! Don’t Fail! You know…that not failing bit…it was a big part of making it through the semester.
Anything you want to tell the campus?
Well, basically to support SMuT (Student Musical Theatre) and come see our show Company in the spring!
