By Jason Endres

Tsunami Relief: One idea being considered Student Senate is to host a concert and to donate the proceeds to relief for victims of the tsunami that occurred on Christmas in South East Asia. A committee is being formed to further discuss the idea.

Ice Rink: The water has frozen and the ice rink is now ready for use. Skates will not be provided, however they are available for purchase at Wal-Mart, according to one Senator.

Midterm Elections: Since some members of the senate are abroad for the semester, there are two positions available in the Junior Class. There are four female junior candidates who Senate had to choose from to take over the two vacant spots. Results of the vote were not revealed during the meeting. Alvincent Hutson was unanimously voted back into the Senate as a Senior Senator, he had previously been on the Senate, before studying abroad.

Snowball: During the past few years, Senate has allocated one thousand dollars a year of their budget to the Snowball, the college’s annual Semi-Formal dance. Once again, it was proposed to allocate $1,000 to the Snowball. The vote was unanimous. The Snowball will be held February 5 in the CUB Ballroom from 9 PM- 1AM. Unlike in past years, there will be a Host Provider for the event, meaning alcohol will be served, according to Senate Secretary Aliza Ameer. Last year over 500 students attended the dance. With the addition of the host provider, the Snowball coordinators are trying to get more junior and seniors to come. The Buzz Jones Band will return again to provide entertainment, before a DJ takes over the rest of night.
